United Way works every day to advance the common good by focusing on the building blocks for a better life.

The simple fact is in order to function at an optimal level one needs to be healthy. Regardless of age, good health practices are vital to our well-being, our ability to function in society, our ability to learn, and to our longevity. The health of our citizens is a strong indicator of the health of our community. United Way works to improve access to quality health care and improve the overall health and welfare of individuals. We work with partners to improve and support healthy lifestyles for infants, youth, adults, families, and elderly.

Community Wide Health

Building a stronger, healthier community by raising resources and developing partnerships that make a measurable difference in the health of our citizens

We invest in, and partner with, programs and organizations that target our focus areas (health promotion and safety, substance abuse prevention, and access to health care) by:

  • Promoting healthy living and chronic disease prevention

  • Focusing on preventing injuries, child abuse/neglect, or domestic violence

  • Increasing health care coverage and access to health care

  • Promoting resilience skills for our youth

  • Engaging youth in meaningful, healthy alternative activities

  • Coordinating health resources and services

  • Providing services for the uninsured
